Molly is a Popular Addition to Legend™ Memory Care at Rivendell
Recently featured in The Oklahoman, Legend™ Memory Care at Rivendell is making big news with Molly, a biofeedback therapeutic robotic seal. Excitement is running high for this innovative therapy technique implemented by Dr. Sandra Petersen, who oversees the program for Legend Senior Living™. Molly is a PARO (personal robot) fitted with thousands of sensors, cameras in her eyes and a transformative computer program that is constantly uploading and adjusting to visual, verbal and physical cues. Molly can actually recognize residents and remembers each one’s reactions. She is designed to stimulate calm and nurturing actions in residents that may be depressed or suffering anxiety.
Molly is the first PARO in Oklahoma and is already having a tremendous impact on Memory Care residents. Used in conjunction with parallel programming, a 20-minute treatment session with Molly can have continued therapeutic effects that last for up to five hours. An exciting and surprising result to using Molly is an overall decrease in the amount of medications residents take for anxiety and depression, as well as aggressive behaviors.
